Volunteers from the Mackay branch of the UAVF were pleased to present donations to two local charitable organisations earlier this year; Hope's Dream, and Chances House.
Hope's Dream is a Pregnancy Counselling Service that counsel and support pregnant women on their journey to discovering the best choice for them. Their services include unplanned pregnancy care, mentoring program, free baby goods, mothers' groups, pregnancy loss support, and post-abortion grief recovery. Funds donated by the UAVF will be used to support those services. https://www.hopesdream.org.au/

Chances House Mackay offer services to the homelessness which include: Meal Service - Mackay's only daily homelessness meal service offering breakfast and lunch (Monday to Friday) alongside weekend packs. Drop-in Lounge where people experiencing homelessness can access resources such as phone charging facilities, storage lockers, internet, printing, telephone, toilets, music/art activities, tea & coffee station and more. (Showers coming soon!) This space also gives people a safe and inclusive place to 'be' while the compassionate staff and volunteers offer conversation, support, guidance and more. Case Management where people find the support they need and connects them to services eg. doctors, housing services, financial aid, medical or mental health support. Homelessness Healthcare assistance to access medical, dental, opthalmology etc, and soon will provide more intensive healthcare support via their own Registered Nurse who will operate from our Homelessness Healthcare Clinic. Essential Items - Offer a wide range of essential items to help make life on the streets a little easier including tents, sleeping bags, insect spray, personal care items, torches, clothing, shoes, first aid supplies and more. https://www.chancesmackay.org/
